Elect Margaret Peggy O’Connell
Margaret Peggy O’Connell is the Democratic candidate for Circuit Court Judge of the 18th Judicial Circuit in DuPage County, IL. She has served as an Assistant State's Attorney and as a private family law, divorce, and criminal defense attorney. She has taught at the John Marshall Law School, and she has received the Inspirational Woman Award from the DuPage County Association of Women Lawyers. She is the current Vice President of the DuPage County Criminal Defense Lawyers Association.
Peggy has elected to run for Circuit Court Judge in order to ensure that additional women and Democrats are represented on the DuPage County bench. Peggy would be the first woman elected directly to serve as a Circuit Court Judge in the history of DuPage County. Peggy will perform her duties as a judge with a thorough and open mind that is informed by her years of experience as a prosecutor and private defense attorney.
Dear DuPage County Voter:
Welcome to my website. I am hoping that you can spare a few moments to learn about me and my candidacy. It is important that we educate ourselves about our judicial candidates in order to determine their qualifications. I am confident in my qualifications to serve the people of DuPage County. My career is the product of practicing in many different areas of law, which allows me to be the choice to serve as a Circuit Court Judge. As you can see by viewing my biographical information, I have served in both the public and private sectors over my 28 years of practice.
In DuPage County, there are currently 46 judges on the bench. Of those 46, only 11 are women. It was not until 2018 that we had our first Democrat elected as a Circuit Court Judge. If elected, I will be the first female attorney elected directly to serve as a Circuit Court Judge in the history of DuPage County. The time has come for the DuPage County Judiciary to reflect all of the citizens of DuPage County.
Thank you for your support.
Very truly yours,
Margaret Peggy O'Connell
